Description

The name Ogham comes from the word Ogma meaning the Celtic God of Elocution or fine speech. The Ogham alphabet consists of groups of lines from one to five, set across a vertical stem line, where each group represents a different letter.

Beautiful, magical, and mythical, the history of the Ogham alphabet is shrouded in the mists of time. The Ogham script is Ireland’s oldest written alphabet, and there is still much speculation about when the script originated.

Some scholars date Ogham to the 1st century AD, others believe it dates from the 4th Century. It is thought that the Ogham alphabet originated in southwest Ireland, possibly around Cork or Kerry, but again this mystical alphabet likes to keep its secrets!

Silver Lucky Shamrock Necklace – Celtic Desire

£25.00
This Lucky Shamrock silver 925 Necklace has been designed by Irish silversmiths, Includes an 18″ long silver chain. Carefully crafted and designed by Irish Silversmiths and comes in a gorgeous light green presentation box. "Lucky Shamrock Necklace in silver Shamrocks are associated with Good Luck and St. Patrick. This Lucky Shamrock pendant comes on an 18″ long chain. The shamrock is a beloved symbol of Ireland that is immediately recognizable to almost everyone. The traditional Irish Shamrock is a three-leafed white clover – not the lucky four-leaf clover that many people think of – and is thought to have been used by St. Patrick himself to explain the idea of the Christian Holy Trinity to the ancient Celts. It is also the Irish symbol that many people associate with St. Patrick’s Day." Product code - PCL 30029 CH RD Explore our entire range of Irish Jewellery Instore & Online.

Oak Moon Crystal Dreamcatcher – ArtWood

£30.00
Beautiful unique wood and crystal Moon Suncatchers with a popular family quote/saying inscribed into the Spalted Beech wood, which we make in Co. Leitrim, Ireland. We use ethically and locally sourced Irish wood and high-quality Egyptian Asfour crystals. When hung in a window the sunlight catches the crystal, which acts as a prism and disperses rainbows all around your room. This is an ideal gift from Ireland for any age or occasion, for him or for her, for weddings, remembrance, special occasions, new baby, christening gift or baby shower gift, birthdays, and Mother’s Day. Or for anyone who just really deserves a gift! The finer details: The wooden moon is approximately 5″ long at its longest part. The Suncatcher comes with a crystal: Angel: a 0.75″ (20mm) ∅ Sphere Asfour crystal with Tibetan silver wings, a 0.4″(10mm)∅ Asfour crystal head and a Preciosa crystal crown (even tiny fairies wear crystal-encrusted crowns) The string measures approx 16″ (400mm) from the top of the moon to the metal hoop which is used for hanging. Please be aware that we have designed our suncatchers for indoor use and have not tested them outdoors. [Oak - code: SO1b]
