Description

The name Ogham comes from the word Ogma meaning the Celtic God of Elocution or fine speech. The Ogham alphabet consists of groups of lines from one to five, set across a vertical stem line, where each group represents a different letter.

Beautiful, magical, and mythical, the history of the Ogham alphabet is shrouded in the mists of time. The Ogham script is Ireland’s oldest written alphabet, and there is still much speculation about when the script originated.

Some scholars date Ogham to the 1st century AD, others believe it dates from the 4th Century. It is thought that the Ogham alphabet originated in southwest Ireland, possibly around Cork or Kerry, but again this mystical alphabet likes to keep its secrets!

Silver Claddagh Pendant – Celtic Desire

£22.00
This beautiful Claddagh pendant is 925 Sterling Silver. Carefully crafted and designed by Irish Silversmiths and comes in a gorgeous light green presentation box. "The Claddagh is an ancient Gaelic symbol which is now a universal symbol of lasting love, eternal friendship, and loyalty. It was first designed around 400 years ago in a small village near Galway, Ireland. The Claddagh symbol shows a crown above two hands clasping a heart in the middle. The Claddagh is often placed on wedding bands to represent holding a lover’s heart in one’s hands. “With these hands I give you my heart and I crown it with my love.” Claddagh Symbolism The crown symbolises loyalty. The hands symbolise friendship. The heart symbolises love." Product Codes -PCLWT 6048 CH Explore our entire range of Irish Jewellery Instore & Online.
