Description

Philomena Burns Breen is a daughter of Lurgan and its history , which shed finds so fascinating and beauty have been the inspiration for many of the poems in this book. As a child of linen weavers, Philomena is steeped in the traditions of Lurgan and dedicated one poem to her weaver mother. Stories told by her dad, and trips as a child with her beloved grandad, enthralled the young Philomena, and their threads weave their way through this tapestry of Philomena’s memories of her home town. Drawing inspiration from such as Pádraig Colum, Philomena finds expression through her poetry of a lovingly remembered past, tinged though it is with tragedies such as the loss of her sister Marion. But there are times too, such as the birth of twins, grandchildren, now old enough to have works of their own included here too.

Several illustrations are by Philomena, who loves drawing in pastels, and she also included some family photos of Lurgan in this, a book to be savored by all who love the Lurgan and the country of today or yesterday.

Silver Celtic Charm Bracelet – Celtic Desire

£59.00
This beautifully Crafted silver charm Bracelet has Six different Celtic Symbols attached to the bracelet. Silver Trinity Knot Symbol, Silver Shamrock Symbol, Silver Claddagh Symbol, Silver Celtic Heart Symbol, Silver Cross symbol and Silver Celtic Triskele Symbol attached to the Bracelet. Carefully crafted and designed by Irish Silversmiths and comes in a gorgeous light green presentation box. "The Celtic knot symbol, is also referred to as the mystic knot, or the endless knot. In viewing these beautiful knots, we cannot see a beginning or an end, and therefore we are reminded of the timeless nature of our spirit. This translation harkens to our most primal selves as we contemplate the infinite cycles of birth and rebirth in both physical and ethereal realms. A less spiritual representation is also related to the knot's endless nature. Due to its infinite path, the Celtic knot can represent an uninterrupted life cycle. Some may use this symbol as a charm of sorts warding against sickness or setbacks that night interfere with an otherwise calm and stable life."
