The sight of the bright yellow gorse flowers, with the instantly recognisable mountain silhouette, reminds us there really is no place quite like the Mournes.
Also known locally as whin bushes, gorse has many, many uses. Ask the locals and they’ll likely remember at some point in their childhood dying their eggs at Easter with the flowers. Ask any forager and I’ll bet they will have a gorse recipe or two… with it’s subtle coconut scent, add a yellow pop to your summer salad or make your own gorse flower syrup, gorse honey, gorse cordial, gorse wine or even gorse gin to name just a few.
Our original Once upon a Dandelion design is a 3 colour colour screen print on a white painted wood frame featuring The Mourne Mountains, gorse flower bush, the sun and birds.
The total measurement of each piece will measure approximately 26.5cm x 26.5 cm and is both free standing and strung ready to hang.
Please note that due to the colour, nature and character of wood, every wood sign will look different. We also mix our own paints and each colour is individually hand pulled, varying the finish of each, making it wonderfully unique.
